Without going into too many details, today was very frustrating. Goals that I had set for myself many months ago, just fell flat. (I bet you're curious, huh?) Needless to say, I was fighting every impulse to be an unbearable grump. Melissa was encouraging. And as she is prone to do, said what I really needed to hear.
Oddly enough, it was also good to hear from Drew Barrymore.
Huh? Okay, I'll explain. I've become addicted to that show Inside the Actors Studio, hosted by the quirky James Lipton. It's so relaxing for me, sorta like when my dad watches golf on TV. Anyways, I was watching the one with Drew Barrymore and she cheered me up. Once again reminding me, not all successful creative types are obsessively cool... some are big dorks who smile through all their idiosyncrasies, genuinely kind individuals.
If you're familiar with the show, James Lipton always asks the same ten questions at the end of each interview, before opening it to the students. I wrote down the questions, and I thought it'd be fun to periodically interview my own friends. Starting with my wife!
